Nurse fired for filming Neymar in hospital

    

The nurse who filmed Brazilian striker Neyma being wheeled around on a hospital trolley has been fired, according to an article on Brazilan football site UOL.

The nurse has been criticized for not only recording the football star in that state but also for blowing kisses to the camera afterwards and laughing. She then posted the video to her Facebook page. Personally, I don't see how this is a big deal but the hospital management released a statement saying the nurse, named Chintia, has been fired.

HCode to be buried tomorrow March 19th

 

Late top music producer Harold Obiajulu Mordi a.k.a HCode, who died on Friday March 7th after suffering an asthma attack, will be laid to rest tomorrow Wednesday, March 19. 

Funeral service will hold at Lagoon Restaurant, Ozumba Mbadiwe, VI at 10:00 am and internment follows immediately at Victoria Courts Cemetry, Awoyaya after Mayfair Gardens in Lagos. May his soul continue to rest in peace, amen. Continue to read more about him...

Federal government increases passport fee by 50%

The Federal Government has increased passport fee by 50%. According to a circular signed by the Deputy Comptroller in charge of Operations/Passport and released a few days ago titled 'Passport Reforms', applicants will now pay N15,000 instead of N10,000. (It was officially N10,000 but we all know how much we really paid...lol) Also applicants for change of data will pay now N30,000.

A newly introduced 64-page passport for frequent travelers will cost N20,000, while Passport for applicants 18 years and below will cost N8,750. It's N15,000 between 18-60 and N8,500 for people above 60 years.

Female applicants, who apply for change of name as a result of marriage/divorce or deceased spouse, will pay N8,750, while processing fee for request for change of data will cost N30,000.

All payments will be made online going forward according to the circular

Nigerian man who stabbed his wife while she slept jailed for 12 years

A Nigerian businessman has been jailed for 12 years after he was found guilty of stabbing his wife as she slept in their home. Oluwabusayo Abegunde, 38, (pictured above) stabbed his wife repeatedly with a kitchen knife after he went through her phone and discovered she was seeing someone else.

Esther Abegunde, 33, told her husband of ten years that their marriage was over and moved into a spare room on February 16th 2013. Abegunde attacked her with the knife after he discovered why she wanted to leave him. Oluwabusayo stabbed Esther in the chest, arm, and punctured her left lung, according to the Manchester Evening News. Continue...

Israel builds detention center in the desert for African Asylum seekers

The Isreali government has built a 9,000 person capacity detention
facility in the southern desert where illegal African Immigrants
would be detained. According to the Isreali government, the illegal
immigrants who seek asylum in the country are becoming a
burden to the govt and so they would be moved from the
Shaharonim detention centre were they are presently being held to
the new facility, a place human rights group have called a De-
facto prison.
In this new facility which is situated in the desert, the immigrants
will be locked down at night, and forced to check-in with the
Israeli authorities three times per day. They will also be barred
from working outside the centre. Continue...

The illegal immigrants who are more than 1000 would be moved
into the facility without any trial or charge and held up in the
facility until the Isreali government is able to repatriate them back
to their countries.
The Isreali Government through an act of Parliament passed the
"Anti-Infiltration Law" which seeks to create a suitable balance
between the right of the State of Israel to defend its borders and
prevent infiltration, and its obligation to act in a humanitarian
manner toward anyone within its borders and protect the human
rights due to every person".
There are an estimated 54,000 African asylum seekers in Israel,
with most coming from Sudan and Eritrea.
